Also I just found this post on the Shack Forum and since it almost perfectly encapsulates how many people feel about Shack, I'm sticking it up here. Those of you who swing by here now and then and who don't yet know this band... read this, get your hands on some music and take the ride.

How have I missed Shack?

Disillusioned with the UK music scene post 1980 I discovered R.E.M., Husker Du...all those great bands that I still love, but apart from The Bunnymen, The Smiths and a few others, 80's UK bands left me cold.

They never got a mention in the NME from what I can remember, I even had a mate back then telling me to get Zilch, but I ignored him having not been impressed by what little I had seen of the Pale Fountains, so again our paths never crossed.

3 years ago I have moved nearer the City, started replacing my Bunnymen vinyl with CDs so that I can listen in the car where I spend most of my time, Boo Radleys, The Coral occasionally

But in the past few years my only link with civilisation being WSAG, Shack kept cropping up again and again. I went to see The Bunnymen before Christmas and was blown away by those great songs that touch nerves that few others get near, and on the wall...posters for Shack

Then the Time Machine review on WSAG and it all clicked into place.

Words cannot express how great these songs are, but you all know that already.

This goes beyond being good music, this is life affirming stuff and in one way I am glad I have discovered them now. Last year I did the same with Dinosaur Jr, genius.

Bands with longevity, no matter how many mistakes they may have made getting to where they are now, to hear a band coming through all the shit of their previous years and still making music as good as, if not better than they have before , it gives hope to everyone.

Rarely does something come along that makes me desperate to share it with others, to sit someone down and say 'You have to listen to this', but Time Machine is just that.

There are other bands I love that deserved more recognition, more 'success', but it would have destroyed them in the long run. Same may well be true of Shack, but I'm spending the start of 2008 backtracking through their albums.

Hold on to your hats... the Future Kings of Spain album is finished. Woo Ha. Its called 'Nervousystem' it rocks and it will be out in the first quarter of next year, with the first single 'Disappear' coming to a radio station near you before then. We at Red Flag are very excited.

No rest for these boys. They have been locked away in a corner of Northwest London writing and recording and getting ready for world domination. Its not fully cooked yet but we can now officially state that the album is on its way and its sounding wicked. We'll be announcing some very exciting support shows soon so keep your eyes and ears to the ground.

So, its been a bit of a busy time for Red Flag as of late. Future Kings Of Spain have been in Malta putting down their much awaited new album. All seemed to go well with some storming tracks emanating the studio walls. Definately something worth waiting for.

Future Kings Of Spain are over on the English side of the sea for a few weeks putting their much anticipated second album down in stone. They also played at the Oxygen Festival in Ireland on Sunday and went down a treat.

Meanwhile Vatican DC had to cancel their support slot to The Progidy on Thursday due to mental terror actions, need we say more. The gig shall be resheduled so keep your eyes on this space. As we speak The Vaults are cruising Dutch lands. They are making an appearance at the Euro Sonic Festival as a tribute to the late John Peel.

With some other gigs lined up in the area is should pave their way into Europe. Their set will be made up of all their new songs too... woop woop!

Just in case you had forgotton - and we couldn't let that happen - Fierce Girl, have their second single due for release on the 7th February, "What Makes A Girl Fierce". It looks set to be a stormer with appearances on Popworld already in the mix. The video is quality to the max too and will be available to view on this very site shortly so keep your eyes peeled for the giant Japanese ladieeeesss...

Now for the wonderful Future Kings Of Spain. Currently hiding away writing their eagerly awaited second album, they emerge to the fantastic news that they have been nominated for Best Irish Band category of the 2005 Meteor Awards!

Fierce Girl's Greg Oliver has made it into the NME COOL LIST 2004. 50 percent of the council pop renegades reached number 37 (a rather lucky number may we add) alongside Andre 3000 and Jamelia. Woop Woop. Noted for his Wildean small talk and his hope for saving pop as we know it he was one set to remember on the photo shoot. Most definitely FIERCE!

Fierce Girl have been gallivanting and living it up around town with comrades in the form of 50ft Japanese lovelies. We're surprised you haven't seen them! Dancing alongside Britney and Beyonce and getting jiggy with London's most famous buildings it was all in the name of their latest video shoot for "What Makes A Girl Fierce?". It looks set to be a giggle of a video that will have you storming a dancefloor near you...

The Vaults have been personally requested by the organisers to play at the Euro-Sonic Festival in Holland in January as a tribute to John Peel. It is an industry festival that even features its own compilation CD that The Vaults 'Straight Faced' will feature on too. Check eurosonic.nl for more info.
